ERECTED IN 1909 BY THE BRETHREN CONGREGATION

The history of the Brethren congregation in Stavanger began in the mid-1820s. Four young, talented men met by chance, and together they created an active Christian community in the city. These four were Søren Daniel Schiøtz, brothers Gabriel and Caspar Kielland and Svend Eriksen Svendsen. The Brethren congregation became a dominant force in congregational work in Stavanger for the next fifty years.
